Langa (meaning ‘sun’), Cape Town’s oldest township, was developed during the period 1923 to 1927 to provide housing for blacks forcibly evicted from Ndabeni – an industrial area located next to the Cape Town suburb of Pinelands. Langa is considered the home of South African jazz and is a pan-Africanist stronghold. A guided tour is recommended as the best alternative to visit the area.
